Andre Russell secured victory for the West Indies against England in Thursday’s Twenty20 International decider in Trinidad, capping off an exciting return series for the side following a two-year break from international cricket. After being out of action since the 2021 T20 World Cup, the dynamic all-rounder made a big impression with the bat and the ball with some outstanding performances.
Andre Russell demonstrated his skill as a death-over specialist and had an excellent strike rate of 169.35 with the bat. Russell was the West Indies’ top wicket-taker in the series. “It means a lot, to be honest, getting the call-up to come back and to join the West Indies team,” he said, expressing his happiness over the series victory and his return. “I arrived from Abu Dhabi, where there is a significant time difference. I made an effort to stay up as late as possible before my flight back to Barbados in order to ensure that I would receive enough sleep and be ready for the game.”
