The Women’s T20 league will resume after the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association (ACA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Vijayawada on June 8.
With maybe four clubs competing in the league—one more than in the previous iteration—the tournament, which was cancelled in 2024, will return.
The current intention is to hold both the men’s and women’s leagues at the same time of year, but if all goes according to plan, the women’s league might be held separately. August is probably when the ACA’s T20 leagues will take place. There are intentions to extend the Women’s T20 competition into a franchise format if it achieves traction.
A commission to regulate women’s cricket in Andhra Pradesh is probably going to be formed by Mithali Raj, the current coordinator of the sport. The committee’s goal might be to create a selection panel with just female delegates, according to a Cricbuzz report.
The goal of ACA for women’s cricket
Women’s cricket is now being considered for inclusion alongside men’s cricket in various state competitions. An excellent example is the current Maharashtra Premier League, where men’s and women’s matches are played on the same day. A number of other boards will probably follow suit. The development of women’s cricket has been greatly aided by the active participation of Indian women’s cricket legends like Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, and Mithali Raj.
After their AGM, ACA issued a statement claiming that the board’s goal is to promote women’s cricket. The association also stated that S Satish, a member of the Rajya Sabha, and Kesineni Sivanath, a member of the Lok Sabha from Vijayawada, had a clear vision for the women’s game. The ACA is committed to creating a strong framework for both men’s and women’s cricket, according to an official.
“ACA’s emphasis on women’s cricket in the state is demonstrated by the decision. According to an ACA official, our president, Kesineni Sivanath, a member of the Lok Sabha from Vijayawada, and secretary, S Satish, a member of the Rajya Sabha, are very clear about their goals for women’s cricket.
