'He did not show to anyone but he was not happy'-Amit Mishra on the sacking of Rohit Sharma as captain in the IPL 2024

Prior to the Indian Premier League 2024, Rohit Sharma was relieved of his captaincy of the Mumbai Indians. In a record transfer, the team acquired Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans, and he was then appointed captain. Amit Mishra, a former Indian spinner, felt that Rohit was not bothered during the league.

Mishra, an IPL player for the Lucknow Super Giants and a close friend of Rohit, stated that the latter has been dissatisfied with the competition. The Indian opener is on level with renowned captain MS Dhoni in terms of trophies won, having guided Mumbai Indians to five IPL championships. Mishra softened his views on this particular point and chastised the MI owners for ignoring Mumbaikar’s accomplishment.

“I won’t claim that Rohit Sharma was content throughout the IPL. To be clear, Rohit Sharma was not content. I experienced that. Even though he didn’t show up, I would say that you should have brought Hardik and declared him the vice captain when someone has won you five trophies.

On Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Amit Mishra stated, “First, make him the vice captain for a year, and then give him the captaincy.”

“You ought to have told Rohit Sharma that, although you are captain this year, Hardik Pandya will take over as captain next year.” Being an extremely sensitive guy, Rohit Sharma was deeply disappointed by this, he continued.

Regarding Rohit’s IPL batting performance, it was a quiet one by his standards. He scored an unbeaten 105 against Chennai Super Kings in the losing effort, and he finished with 417 runs at an average of 32.08 in 14 innings. After that, his play declined, and he was limited to scoring runs in Australia’s Super Eights at the T20 World Cup in 2024. After Dhoni and Kapild Devi, he became the only other Indian captain to win a World Cup, having eventually guided his country to their second Twenty20 triumph.
