Hampshire is making every effort to assemble a formidable team for the upcoming campaign. The Hampshire setup will include Amanda-Jade Wellington, 28, as one of the foreign players.
Amanda-Jade has a lot of experience playing for the Southern Brave in the Women’s Hundred at the Utilita Bowl. The Adelaide native, who joined after a successful campaign with Somerset in the first women’s Tier 1 season earlier this year, is ranked second among the top wicket-takers across the competition’s five seasons.
To date, Amanda-Jade has represented Australia in one Test, fourteen ODIs, and eight T20Is.
Since 2022, she has not been a member of the Women in Yellow. Amanda-Jade, a useful hitter and aggressive leg-spinner, is anticipated to be available for Hampshire all summer long.
She said she was excited for the challenges ahead after joining Hampshire. She also thought that playing in the Women’s Hundred would help her succeed in England.
“I can’t wait to start the new season with Hampshire. According to ESPNcricinfo, Amanda-Jade said, “I had a great time at Utilita Bowl during my two years at Southern Brave, and I look forward to catching up with familiar faces and making new memories which will hopefully result in trophies come end of summer.”
Adam Carty, regional director of women’s cricket, praised the signing. He called Amanda a friend of the team and expressed his hope that Hampshire will benefit from her extensive playing experience and stellar record in England.
“Securing Amanda-Jade for the entire upcoming season makes us very happy. She has a great record with bat and ball in England, having played well in the Hundred and Tier 1. She is also a friend of the club. In 2026, we’re excited to have her return to Utilita Bowl,” Carty stated.
Wellington currently plays for the Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League. At an average of 21.87, she has taken eight wickets in a row.
