According to Australian cricketer Alyssa Healy, if she were looking for wicketkeeping assistance, she would rather consult MS Dhoni than Adam Gilchrist. The 35-year-old clarified that her decision was merely motivated by her wish to attempt “something new” because she and Gilchrist have previously spoken extensively.
Although Gilchrist has been a valuable source of knowledge, Healy admitted that she is now eager to absorb Dhoni’s distinct viewpoint and expertise from behind the stumps.
“MS Dhoni. Because, although I’ve talked to Gilly a lot, I’ve never really received any helpful counsel from him. I’ll go with MS Dhoni.
“I think I’ve done everything I can with Gilchrist, so let’s try something different,” Alyssa Healy stated on LiSTNR Sport.
Many people consider Dhoni and Gilchrist to be among the best wicketkeepers in the history of the game. With 634 catches and an astounding 195 stumpings, the former Indian skipper concluded his international career with 829 dismissals. With 92 stumpings and 813 catches, Gilchrist finished with a greater total of 905 dismissals.
Speaking of Dhoni, he recently made news when he talked candidly about his future with the Indian Premier League’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The CSK management paid INR 4 crore to keep the veteran under the “uncapped player” category prior to the 2025 season. The 44-year-old took over as team captain after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined by an injury halfway through the season.
Fans and cricket experts have been anxiously awaiting word on Dhoni’s potential return for the IPL 2026 since the conclusion of the 2025 season.
“CSK and I are with each other. Even for the next 15 to 20 years, you know (crowd cheers). It is my wish that they do not anticipate my playing for another 15 to 20 years! But yes,” Dhoni remarked, according to the Hindustan Times.
“One or two years isn’t the point. I’ll be sitting in a yellow jersey forever. “You know yourself,” he said, “but you also know whether I’ll be playing or not in a while.
