Alyssa Healy looks forward to home season following the 2025 ODI World Cup

Alyssa Healy, the women’s captain of Australia, has denied rumours that the 2025 ODI World Cup will be her final appearance, saying she plans to play on beyond the major event. Alyssa Healy is now hoping for a big recovery after a difficult season marred by injuries, both to lead Australia’s title defence in India and to play in the upcoming home summer.

Due to a stress fracture in her foot that prevented her from keeping wickets, the 35-year-old last played in January during the Women’s Ashes Test, where she played as a pure batter. Due to this injury and a previous knee problem, she was unable to participate in important competitions such as the Women’s Premier League in India, the WBBL, and the ODI series in New Zealand.

“It has most likely moved slightly. I’ve come to the realisation that I still want to do a bit more than I previously believed. However, there are some things in life that are slightly more significant than wearing green and gold. Thus, it’s simply a continuous reevaluation. However, I would like to play a home summer right now. According to Cricbuzz, Alyssa Healy stated, “I want to bring the World Cup home, but I also want to play against India (in February-March).”

In preparation for the ODI World Cup in October and November, Alyssa Healy is expected to return to full match fitness in the August Australia A series against India A. Both the one-day and T20 teams have her on them, with Tahlia McGrath captaining the 50-over format.

Since January, Alyssa Healy has failed to maintain wickets in a game.

“But right now, I’d really like to play a home summer. In addition to playing against India (in February and March), I want to bring the World Cup home,” he continued.

Australia wants to win back-to-back ODI World Cups, making them the first team to do it since 1988. Healy has dedicated her time and efforts to leading a fresh side to another win after Meg Lanning retired in 2023. Interestingly, Healy is confident in her ability to control her workload even though she hasn’t kept wickets in a game since January.
