Despite leading the current ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, Australia Women are currently worried since captain Alyssa Healy is doubtful about playing in the semi-final match against India Women. She had strained her calf earlier in the tournament, which kept her out of both of the league stage matches against South Africa and England.
Shelley Nitschke, the head coach of Australia Women, responded to questions from the media on Saturday by providing a crucial update on Alyssa Healy injuries. Alyssa Healy has been experiencing discomfort with her calf and has not fully healed, she confirmed. In the lead-up to the match on Thursday, October 30, at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, the team is still awaiting additional evaluations of the wicketkeeper-batter.
Alyssa Healy was obviously not up to par tonight, but her evaluation will go on.
Although there are still a few days left to go, we’re really hoping to make it to the semi. After the resounding victory over South Africa, Nitschke stated at the news conference, “We’re hopeful again, and she’ll just continue to be assessed the closer we get to the game.”
Doubts about Sophie Ecclestone for England Women
However, England Women may not have Sophie Ecclestone, their star left-arm spinner, available. During the match against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam, the cricket player suffered a severe injury to her left shoulder. It was established that she would not be participating in this particular competition any further, which also raised questions about her availability for the semi-final.
Sophie Ecclestone is undergoing treatment after suffering further left shoulder pain while bowling following an ungainly fall on her shoulder in the field during the opening over. She won’t be going back to the field during England’s bowling innings as a precaution,” England Cricket announced in the opening innings of the match.
The first semi-final between England and South Africa Women is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. This match will determine who advances to the final, which will take place in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
