“She is the harshest critic of the reverse,” Alex Carey says of his wife, whose advice helped him do well in the WTC final.

Australia has set a goal of 444 runs for India to beat on the last day of the World Test Championship 2023 final. This means that the game is going to end in an exciting way. On Day 4, Alex Carey (66*) and Mitchell Starc (41) added 93 runs to the seventh wicket, which made Australia’s huge lead of 173 runs even bigger.

In the first test, Alex Carey scored 48 out of 69 runs, which helped Australia pass the 450-run mark. But his innings were over when Ravindra Jadeja got him lbw when he tried to reverse-sweep the left-arm spinner. This was the fourth time this year that he tried to play that shot and failed. But in the second inning, he didn’t try the shot even once. Alex Carey had already said that his wife Eloise gives him the most honest feedback on his reverse sweep.

“My wife is the most critical person I know about the reverse. She tells him, “Don’t play that stupid reverse sweep again.” But I tell her in a nice way, “You haven’t played the game.” Yes, you’ll get out to do reverse sweeps and sweeps, but it can also lead to success,'” Daily Mail said that Carey said this.

This year, Alex Carey has played the reverse sweep 16 times in Tests and has been out four times, which means that he has been out once for every four times he has tried it. On Day 4, during the second inning, the southpaw played the classic sweep to counter Jadeja’s over-the-wicket bowling into the rough.

The 31-year-old learned from his mistakes and didn’t play a single reverse sweep to help his team get a huge lead of 443. Later, Australia got three Indian wickets when Rohit Sharma (43), Cheteshwar Pujara (27), and Shubman Gill (18) all got out at the stumps.

On Day 5, India needed 280 more runs to win. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were at the wicket. But Indian dreams were crushed when Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were out in the same over in the first hour. India finally gave up, and when they were out for 234 runs, they were out of the game.
