Gautam Gambhir, who began his career as India’s head coach in Sri Lanka in July, will be reunited with Morne Morkel, who was named the country’s new bowling coach this week. Albie Morkel recently expressed his opinions about his younger brother’s selection for the esteemed position, which has previously been filled by Bharat Arun and Paras Mhambrey.
Albie discussed the pressure that accompanies with the distinction of being a member of the Indian coaching establishment. The former all-rounder from South Africa stated that there is very little room for error in the position and expressed the hope that Morne could gain his players’ trust so that, in due course, they can reach their full potential.
It goes without saying that the largest duty or coaching position available is undoubtedly becoming a member of the Indian team’s coaching staff. It’s a profession where there is no margin for error because of the team’s past success and passion for the sport. He’ll be surrounded by some really accomplished players, so I suppose his challenge will be to gain their trust and inspire confidence in his ability to help them realise their full potential every single day, Albie said Mid-day.
Albie Morkel , who regarded Jasprit Bumrah as the finest all-format bowler in global cricket, expressed his belief that the former fast from South Africa would enjoy working with him.
“Again, I’m not sure exactly what he would think of Bumrah, but Jasprit is the world’s greatest all-around bowler. He is truly unique, and I have no doubt that Morne would adore working with him.”
For the Proteas, Morne has participated in 86 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 44 T20Is, taking 309, 188, and 47 wickets in those matches, respectively. In 70 IPL games, he has also taken 77 wickets. The 39-year-old began a career in coaching after quitting the game in 2018 and has prior experience with Pakistan’s bowling squad.

Although his new role with the Indian team would be difficult, the Vereeniging native is eager to demonstrate his coaching prowess.
