ENG vs WI: Akeem Jordan replaces injured Jeremiah Louis in third Test

Jeremiah Loius, a West Indies pacer, will not play in the last Test match against England at Edgbaston on July 26. The 28-year-old was benched for the first two Test matches as the visiting team relied more on Jayden Seales, Shamar Joseph, Jason Holder, and Alzarri Joseph. Louis, though, sustained a hamstring injury during practice, which prevented him from playing in the last Test.

Akeem Jordan has been named by Cricket West Indies (CWI) as Louis’ replacement. Since he was already in the UK, it was simple for the team management to invite him to the series. Although the 29-year-old has already reported to Edgbaston, it seems unlikely that he will make the starting lineup.

Although he has played in two ODIs and 19 first-class matches, Jordan has not yet made his Test debut. Since 2022, he has participated in 67 FC games and taken 67 wickets at an average of 24.10.

In the meantime, the West Indies trail the three-match series 2-0. The team captained by Kraigg Brathwaite was defeated at Trent Bridge by 241 runs and lost the Lord’s Test by an innings and 114 runs. On the plus side, they displayed a great deal of character at the bat in the second Test. Despite amazing hitting efforts of 82 and 120 runs, respectively, by Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge, West Indies lost the match after blowing a lead in the second innings.

Still, there’s hope in the camp, which is encouraging. West Indies have the potential to shock everyone, but their players need to be more reliable. The bowlers have had difficulty, which is another area where they want improvement. In the interim, England will need to carry on with their current strategy of applying pressure on the visitors by playing aggressive cricket.
