The West Indies team has been revealed for their forthcoming bilateral Twenty20 International series against Nepal. The mainstay captain Shai Hope, like many other regulars, has been rested, and all-rounder Akeal Hosein has been named captain of the 15-man team by the Cricket West Indies (CWI). Rayon Griffith will be the head coach of the team, and new names have surfaced in the contingent, which might include up to six new faces making their series debut.
The United Arab Emirates, which is also hosting the Asia Cup 2025, will host the series. All three of the games in the historic first-ever series between the West Indies and Nepal will take place in Sharjah, which is not the location of any of the matches in the continental tournament.
Experienced campaigners like Jason Holder and Obed McCoy are also part of the Akeal Hosein-led team.
“This series against Nepal is a significant step towards expanding West Indies cricket’s horizons.” In an official statement released on Wednesday, September 17, CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe remarked, “It gives our senior men’s team the opportunity to interact with an enthusiastic emerging nation while offering priceless match experience in various conditions.”
“This journey reflects our long-term goal of building a team that is flexible, resilient, and prepared for challenges around the world, even beyond the immediate competition. We can expand the game, attract new supporters, and enhance the reputation of West Indies cricket globally by taking the sport into new areas and against new opponents,” Bascombe continued.
