According to former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, Akash Deep was unproductive on the opening day of the third Test between England and India because he tried too hard to take a wicket. The cricketer-turned-commentator spoke after Akash Deep failed to take a wicket in 17 overs on Day 1.
He noticed that Akash Deep lacked the control he showed at Edgbaston, where he took four and six wickets in the first and second innings.
