Ranji Trophy 2024–25: Mumbai wins the quarterfinals thanks to a century from Ajinkya Rahane

The Ranji Trophy quarterfinals have started, and some amazing performances have already been seen. Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane played a fantastic knock to keep the team ahead of the game, and the knockout match between Mumbai and Haryana also took an intriguing turn.

Even though they might not have taken the lead in the first innings, the Haryana squad put up a strong fight throughout the match and gave the 42-time winners a 14-run lead in the first innings. Ajinkya Rahane ultimately got his first century in the competition with 108 from 180 deliveries after Mumbai had once again lost their openers early. He developed strong relationships with Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav, which enabled the team to ultimately set a respectable and challenging objective of 354.

In the domestic scene thus far, Ajinkya Rahane has been in excellent form, and this is his eighth 50+ score in the previous 11 games.

At a pivotal moment for the squad, he achieved his 40th century in first-class cricket. These are the knocks that have demonstrated Rahane’s skill and expertise as a leader in addition to being a top-tier hitter.

Speaking of the quarterfinal encounter versus Haryana, the Mumbai team has already made the initial breakthrough by dismissing players like captain Ankit Kumar, who was the first innings’ centurion. The captain of Harayana, who also scored the most runs in the league, was removed by Mumbai’s top all-rounder Shardul Thakur. With Lakshya Suman Dalal and Yashvardhan Dalal at the crease, Haryana is sitting at 31-1 at lunchtime as of this writing.
