Reports: In compensation for his mentoring, Ajay Jadeja declined money from the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Ajay Jadeja, a former cricket player from India, was Afghanistan’s coach during the competition and a major factor in their victory. Making use of his vast experience playing cricket internationally and his in-depth familiarity with Indian grounds, Jadeja was instrumental in leading the Afghan team.

The Afghanistan cricket team made an incredible impression on cricket fans with their performances during the ODI World Cup, which was played in India last year. Glenn Maxwell’s double century prevented them from winning Australia, but they came very near.

Still, they emerged victorious against the Netherlands, England, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan qualified for the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan despite finishing sixth in the competition despite these accomplishments.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) did not pay Jadeja for his mentoring, which was a shocking revelation. According to the CEO of ACB, Jadeja said that the team’s success will serve as his award and reward and denied any monetary recompense.

Between 1992 and 2000, Ajay Jadeja played cricket. In 15 Test matches, he amassed 576 runs, with a career-high score of 96. He appeared for India in 196 One Day International matches, scoring 5359 runs at an average of 37.47, with six hundreds and thirty half-centuries in his total. With almost 8000 runs, 31 hundreds, and 88 half-centuries in 111 first-class and 291 List A cricket matches, Jadeja also has a plenty of experience.

In the current ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Afghanistan has been playing some absolutely amazing matches. They have won their first three games convincingly against Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and Uganda, with incredible talent and confidence. Their victories have put them in a favourable position to advance to the tournament’s Super Eight round.

Afghanistan’s victory over Papua New Guinea was very impressive, demonstrating their skill at both bowling and batting. Afghanistan’s rising proficiency and capacity to take on elite teams was demonstrated by the encounter against New Zealand, a historically competitive cricketing nation. Their facile victory over Uganda served as more evidence of their reliable form and superior strategic thinking.

As the competition moves forward, all eyes will be on Afghanistan to see whether they can continue and even improve on this remarkable run. It is anticipated that in the later stages of the competition, their players, who have shown great potential and skill, could pull shocks over more seasoned teams. The Afghan team, renowned for their tenacity and spirit of competition, is primed to shock and excel at this major occasion.
