Aiden Markram, the opener for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), is having an incredible Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The South African batsman hit his fourth fifty of the season against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday, April 22, which is the most he has ever scored in an IPL season.
Aiden Markram scored 381 runs in 12 innings while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) at a strike rate of 139.1 and an average of 47.63. But Markram only managed two 50-plus scores in the previous two seasons.
The 30-year-old has already amassed 326 runs in nine innings of the 2025 Indian Premier League, averaging 36.22 and hitting at a rate of more than 150. Markram has never played with a strike rate higher than 140 in his five IPL seasons.
With scores of 15 and 1 to begin the IPL 2025, Markram has been outstanding ever since. Prior to this, Markram’s last six innings featured scores of 66, 6, 58, 47, 53, and 28.
From the first kick against DC, the South African right-hander appeared to be in excellent form. With a strong pull for a six off Mitchell Starc, Markram signalled his arrival.
Mitchell Marsh, his partner, was a little slack with his powerplay strategy, but Markram hit 30 off 20 and ensured that LSG reached the 50-run milestone after six overs.
Sai Sudharsan of the Gujarat Titans (GT) is the only player in the IPL 2025 with more 50-plus scores (5) than Markram. In actuality, Mitchell Marsh, Markram, and Nicholas Pooran—the top three batsmen for LSG—have all scored 50 runs or more in the 2025 IPL.
