Ahmed Shehzad has withdrawn in the home tournament Pakistan "favouritism, false promises, and injustice."

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come under fire from former cricket player Ahmed Shehzad for failing to meet the demands of domestic players. Despite drawing attention to the flaws in the system, the batter decided not to continue playing domestic cricket. Shazad has been outspoken about the board’s anomalies; three days ago, he criticised PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for lacking the guts to make bold changes to the national cricket squad.

The 32-year-old, who was not selected by a team during the auction, declared his retirement from the Pakistan Super League in December 2023. He claimed in doing so that the six franchises were intentionally trying to prevent him from competing. In a new accusation, he declared his intention to withdraw from the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup and claimed the board did not have the necessary “instruments for surgery.”

“I regretfully have chosen not to participate in the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup. It is intolerable that the PCB treats domestic players unfairly, with false promises, and with favouritism. Shehzad said on “X” that the PCB was wasting 5 million rupees on mentors who were doing nothing and rewarding the present team’s failures, which drove Pakistan cricket to an all-time low, at a time when the country is grappling with poverty, inflation, and enormous electricity bills.

Even more discourteous is the PCB’s assertion that they lack “instruments for surgery,” which shows extreme disregard for players from within the country. I can’t accept a system that doesn’t recognise merit because I’m a Pakistani and a devoted cricket fan. He went on, “I won’t be a part of this messed up setup.

Here’s Ahmed Shehzad’s latest post on ‘X’:

With a heavy heart, I’ve decided not to play in the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup. The PCB’s favoritism, false promises, and injustice towards domestic players are unacceptable. In a time when Pakistan is struggling with inflation, poverty, and massive electricity bills, the PCB…

Ahmed Shehzad accused PCB administration authorities of being accountable for Bangladesh’s loss.

Additionally, on August 25, Ahmed Shehzad said on social media that some individuals have been involved in PCB affairs for 12 to 15 years. For the sake of improving Pakistani cricket, these incompetent bureaucrats ought simply give up making decisions.

Furthermore, he was particularly critical of the board following Bangladesh’s historic triumph of Pakistan. In the end, he described it as the lowest point of cricket in the country that he had never witnessed.
