Harbhajan Singh praised the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee for the players they chose, although expressing disappointment that Shubman Gill was left out of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 roster.
All of the team’s players have won matches, according to Harbhajan, who also predicted that the Men in Blue will become the first team to win the T20 World Cup twice in a row.
“The group is excellent. I had stated that Agarkar ought to receive a 10/10 for the team.
Shubman would soon have more opportunities, but I felt a little sorry for him. Each player has won the match on their own. NDTV Sports cited Harbhajan Singh as saying, “I hope we can win back-to-back World Cups because we have that team.”
During the T20 World Cup, Harbhajan Singh believes Suryakumar Yadav would rebound.
Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India’s Twenty20 team, had a poor batting season in 2025. He failed to reach a half-century and concluded with a pitiful average of 13.62 in 19 T20I innings. Harbhajan, however, stated that he has faith in the Mumbai batsman and that he will perform brilliantly at the T20 World Cup. The cricketer-turned-expert also gave Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Abhishek Sharma high marks.
“Suryakumar hasn’t scored many runs, but we’ll need to fire key players when the World Cup arrives. In that crucial match, he will shine. You can win matches by yourself with Abhishek (Sharma). Hardik (Pandya) is an important player in his current condition. “Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh are also in pace,” Harbhajan stated.
In the T20 World Cup, the Asian powerhouses are grouped with the United States, Namibia, Pakistan, and the Netherlands in Group A. On February 7, they will play the USA at Mumbai’s storied Wankhede Stadium to kick off their campaign. However, the Indian team will play New Zealand in three ODIs and five T20Is before to the T20 World Cup.
