Ajit Agarkar, the chief selector, and head coach Gautam Gambhir are allegedly considering excluding Bumrah from the continental event as well. Although Jasprit Bumrah enjoys Test cricket and there are World Test Championship points up for grabs, it will be a difficult decision. NDTV Sports cited a source close to the BCCI and the Indian selection committee as stating, “As far as T20 is concerned, he can play the series against New Zealand in January, which will be a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup.”
“Jasprit Bumrah cannot play against the West Indies in Ahmedabad if he participates in the Asia Cup and India advances to the final.

The Indian team is in Group A with bitter rivals Pakistan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup 2025, which is scheduled to begin on September 9. The two-match series against the West Indies, which will also be India’s first series in their domestic calendar, will start on October 2, thus after the conclusion of this major T20 tournament, the Indian side will turn its attention to playing in white.
