"After losing to the West Indies twice in a row, we'll identify the areas where we can improve," said Aiden Markram

Because of their brutal performance in the T20 World Cup, South Africa advanced to the competition’s finals. They are now trailing the West Indies 2-0 in the series, though, as they have struggled mightily in both the bowling and batting departments. South Africa was bundled for 149 runs in response to the West Indies’ 179 runs on the board in the second Twenty20 International at Trinidad, resulting in a 30 run defeat.

With a flurry of boundaries, opener Reeza Hendricks set the tone for the chase for the team, smashing 44 off just 18 balls. No other batter assumed the responsibilities after his dismissal, which resulted in a loss.

The fact that six of their players had single-digit ratings is quite alarming, and the team management needs to take appropriate action. Following the match, Markram acknowledged their areas of weakness and gave praise to West Indies for their effective middle-overs bowling.

“In between overs (in which we were defeated). In the latter part of the middle overs, they bowled incredibly well. They made the scoring difficult. We’ll pinpoint our areas of improvement. Hopefully, we can put on a better show in the next game, Markram stated during the post-match press conference.

Romario Shepherd considers his POTM showing.

Romario Shepherd, an all-round player, was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling in the second half. In his four overs, the 29-year-old claimed three wickets while conceding only 15 runs. He revealed his position on the team and expressed that he was “pleased” with his performance after the game.

“Very happy following the poor performance in the first game. I followed the same strategies, but they were carried out more skilfully. I made an effort to remain composed as I moved ball by ball. It is my responsibility to arrive and make every effort to hit the deck with the change-ups and everything else. My commander expects me to do that. I have to set aside my previous performances and focus on sticking to my lengths and using my variations today in order to perform better, Shepherd remarked.
