Virender Sehwag examined the batting performance of SRH vs KKR. In the process, the former PBKS batsman made fun of the Punjab-based team, saying they used to put a spoke in their own wheels and comparing their batting to that of SRH. Sehwag pointed out that SRH had recorded comparatively smaller totals of 163 and 120 in their prior games and was unable to chase 201.
Sehwag said that SRH might have pursued 201 against KKR since the surface was good and the opposition’s bowling attack was weak. The former Indian batsman claimed that aside from the surface being slower, there wasn’t any assistance and that the ball didn’t turn. He believed that SRH batters lacked the flexibility that was essential in the middle.
The wicket and (KKR’s) bowling attack were both too challenging to handle.
The practice of Punjab putting a spoke in their own wheels appears to have been transferred to Hyderabad. They lost after making 190, then about 160, and today they were unable to reach 200. They scored 200 runs after batting first. The ball wasn’t turning, as we could see, and the bowlers weren’t getting much assistance. “It was a little slow, and the bowlers were bowling mostly slow balls, but if you stay in the crease for a while, you get used to that,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
Understanding SRH’s aggressive style of cricket, the former offensive batsman was dissatisfied with their batting. He believed that even though the game was played in Kolkata, SRH should have won.
“Hyderabad has fallen short. What am I supposed to say? Despite having a large number of hitters, none of them are able to score runs, and they are all out at 120. You have attracted the attention of the paying public. Although the game was played in Kolkata, Hyderabad is known for its lively atmosphere. Here, it had simply vanished,” Sehwag continued.
