After his first captaincy vs Australia, Phil Salt he said "enjoyed the added responsibility"

Due to a calf injury, England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler was unable to play in the T20I series against Australia. After his appointment as captain, Phil Salt led England to victory in the second Twenty20 International after they had lost the opening game in Cardiff. The series ended on equal footing after rain forced the cancellation of the third and final match.

Regarding his first spell as England’s captain, Salt said he had never experienced anything like it, but he had also come to appreciate the extra accountability. The 28-year-old, who has a strike rate of 168.57 and has scored 59 runs in two games, has also helped with the bat.

After the game, Salt was cited by Sky Sports as saying, “I’ve enjoyed it, it’s different, it’s the first time in an England shirt I’ve had to look at the game differently, but I’ve enjoyed the added responsibility.”

Very proud of the team: Phil Salt

After England lost the opening Twenty20 international by 28 runs, Salt was overjoyed to witness an outstanding comeback in Cardiff. Liam Livingstone caused chaos in the second game by smashing 87 runs off of 47 deliveries and taking two wickets.

By three wickets, England won the match with relative ease. The England captain stated that Australia found it difficult to defend, particularly as several of their experienced pacers were unavailable, and that their prospects of winning big tournaments will improve the more time they spend together.

“I’m really pleased with this group. You’re always under pressure after losing the first one, and we recovered stronger. We can truly put our foot down once we are in control. I believe that the Australians struggled to defend in Cardiff. We want to win a bilateral series, and Salt stated that the more time we spend together as a team, the stronger the squad will be in the major competitions.
