After Dravid’s exit, CEO Jake Lush McCrum leaves Rajasthan Royals

According to a rumour that surfaced in a major media site on Tuesday, team CEO Jake Lush McCrum has also resigned following the departure of Rahul Dravid, who had been head coach for the 2025 season. Off the pitch, the IPL 2008 winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) seem to be going through a difficult time.

Cricbuzz claims that McCrum, an Englishman, has been a key member of the Royals’ operations for a number of years, holding a variety of positions prior to being promoted to chief executive for the 2008 winners. He has confirmed his departure from the Jaipur-based team by personally contacting other franchises and industry colleagues.

Aside from this, Dravid recently resigned as head coach of the RR after rejoining the team in 2025.

After serving as India’s head coach after the T20 World Cup, he took on coaching responsibilities in the lucrative league. He has also been associated with the franchise for more than ten years, having served as RR’s mentor in 2014 and 2015. Between 2011 and 2013, Dravid played for the RR as a player and captain. He participated in 46 games and scored 1,276 runs at an average of 29.00, including seven half-centuries.

The concern is increased by the ongoing rumours over skipper Sanju Samson’s future. According to multiple sources, RR was in talks about possible deals with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but neither agreement ever came to pass. Even though Samson has made it clear that he wants to stay with the team that first supported him, there are still whispers of internal strife.

According to insiders, the Royals’ locker room is currently divided into three factions, with Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag vying for a leadership position before the tournament’s 2026 edition. Due to divergent views among the franchise hierarchy regarding the captaincy, there are still unanswered questions regarding the captain’s future appointment.

Given the loss of both Dravid and McCrum, as well as the uncertainty surrounding their long-time captain, RR is currently going through a pivotal time of change. With four victories, RR placed ninth in the 2025 IPL and will try to improve in the upcoming tournament. Their goal will be to get to the final and attempt to win the coveted trophy for the second time.
