After bowling out Pakistan for 91, New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell said, "We could have restricted them to a lesser score."

After defeating Pakistan in the opening Twenty20 International at the Hagley Oval in New Zealand, New Zealand now leads 1-0. The hosts chose to bowl first after winning the toss, and they held the visitors to 91 runs. New Zealand defeated Pakistan by a commanding 9 wickets.

Pakistan’s batting order was crushed and restricted to just 91 thanks to an incredible bowling display by Ish Sodhi, Jacob Duffy, and Kyle Jamieson. The Kiwis easily chased down the goal in reply, reaching 92/1 in just 10.1 overs.

Following their victory over Pakistan, New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell gave a post-match presentation in which he discussed the game.

As he got ready for his fourth over, he complimented the audience and claimed it was hard to control Kyle Jamieson. Bracewell also believed that if he had delivered the ball to Jamieson for his fourth over, New Zealand would have bowled Pakistan for less.

“It was an amazing day in front of a fantastic audience. Having them in the same squad after our domestic matches was really tough for them, and they were unable to bounce back. Kyle was ready and at the top of his game, so we had to hold him back for the fourth over. It was hard to stop them from attacking; perhaps we might have held them to a lower score, but switching around the bowlers is never easy, particularly in shorter forms like the Twenty20s.”

Player of the game At the post-match presentation, Kyle Jamieson also discussed the game. He looked forward to the bowling conditions and enjoyed being back home. He praised his colleagues, saying they have guys who can take advantage of these situations and a good depth. Zakary Foulkes and Jacob Duffy, his bowling partner on the powerplay, also took him.

“Duff and I will accept these favorable circumstances, and it was pleasant to cash in. It was good to be back on home turf. I suppose we anticipate some bloodshed and some balls popping out of the earth. It was nice to have these conditions; we had to maintain the seam’s upright position, which made our work easier and required a clinical team effort. It was a good team victory; we have a solid crop of players, tremendous depth, and players who can take advantage of the circumstances. It was a fantastic all-around performance from the bowlers, and he did a fantastic job at the top and back end, as did Zak. “Kyle Jamieson said.”
