Although Pakistan’s U19 Asia Cup team lost to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the semi-finals, head coach Mohammad Yousuf has found six youngsters with enormous potential who could play for Pakistan in the future. The 49-year-old expressed great optimism for their future and stressed the need for continuous development if they want to join the national squad.
Muhammad Yousuf praised Saad Baig and Azan Awais for their outstanding batting efforts during the competition. After hitting 222 runs in four games, Azan emerged as the tournament’s second-highest run scorer, while Baig ended fourth with 176 runs in the same number of games. In the semi-final matchup with the UAE, Baig scored a half-century while batting at number four, but Pakistan was bowled out for 182 runs, losing by 11 runs.
But Muhammad Yousuf noted that they still have the opportunity to grow while applauding their mature batting. He also mentioned Mohammad Zeeshan, who finished as the tournament’s second-leading wicket-taker after taking 11 in four games.
