The deplorable condition of the Moin-ul-Haq stadium in Patna prompted Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, to call a review meeting recently. He pledged to build an international stadium in Bihar that is of “world-class” quality.
The Patna stadium’s poor state sparked criticism, which led to the investigation. Throughout the Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Bihar, a number of films showing the stadium’s dilapidated infrastructure went viral on social media. Placards hung all over the stadium indicating danger zones served to highlight the problem. Notably, the viewing gallery was still in terrible condition, and there were no appropriate sitting arrangements at the location.
Tejashwi Yadav posted meeting information and highlighted suggested improvements on his official social media channel, X, which was once Twitter. A sports complex, a five-star hotel, a restaurant, a better drainage system, plenty of parking, and the integration of the Patna Metro are just a few of the amenities that are planned in addition to the building of an international stadium. With this project, the state’s sports infrastructure will be completely renovated, and the deficiencies at the Moin-ul-Haq stadium will be fixed.
“A review meeting about the reconstruction and remodeling of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium took place today. The world-class international stadium that will be constructed here will feature Patna Metro, a sports complex, a five-star hotel, a restaurant, and improved parking and drainage systems. It was instructed to finish the DPR work in two weeks and to proceed with additional steps. The deputy wrote on X, “#Bihar #TejashwiYadav.”

After the controversy, former India bowler Venkatesh Prasad also criticized the Bihar Cricket Association for the subpar facilities on the grounds.

Subsequently, the government of Bihar suggested creating a section to handle grievances over the state’s sports infrastructure. According to S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the State Cabinet, a new organization will work to improve sports in Bihar and implement various welfare programs for athletes. He added that the government will ensure that athletes compete at the top levels both domestically and internationally and will support sports.
