Afghanistan's players celebrate their semi-final qualifying in the T20 World Cup 2024 by dancing in the team bus; the video goes viral.

On Tuesday, June 25, the Afghanistan Cricket Team made history by becoming the first team to go to the World Cup semifinals. At the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St. Vincent, they accomplished the incredible accomplishment of defeating Bangladesh by eight runs (DLS method) in a low-scoring thriller.

Bangladesh was given a DLS target of 114 in 19 overs after limiting the Afghans to 115/5 in their 20 overs. To advance to the semifinals, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team had to chase the total in 12.1 overs, or 12.4 overs if they hit a six after the scores were level. Afghanistan eventually earned a trip to the semifinals after they were bowled out for 105.

Following the historic victory for the Afghan players, who were spotted dancing and singing with pure joy, emotions ran high. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was spotted crying uncontrollably after suffering an injury during the game. Later, Gulbadin Naib’s team bus contained footage of the players bustin’ a move, as shared by Afghanistan’s bowling consultant Dwayne Bravo on his Instagram account.

Bravo has formed a close relationship with both the players and the supporters after joining Afghanistan as a bowling consultant prior to the 2024 T20 World Cup.

On the sidelines, he has been highly involved, offering ideas to skipper Rashid Khan and the other bowlers in the team. Using the favourable conditions to their advantage, the Blue Tigers have shown to be one of the better bowling teams in the competition. Enlisting the Caribbean cricketer, who is regarded as one of the best bowlers in T20 cricket history, as a bowling consultant is paying off handsomely.
