After the Asia Cup, Afghanistan will host Bangladesh for a bilateral white-ball series in the United Arab Emirates. In order to prepare for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which India and Sri Lanka will jointly host, the two teams will play each other in a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series.
The series is another crucial stage in Afghanistan’s preparation to field a competitive team for the major tournament. They will focus on the task presented by Bangladesh following the end of the forthcoming Asia Cup campaign and the T20I tri-series against Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The T20I leg of the series will start on October 2 and the ODIs will begin on October 8.
Both boards were enthusiastic about the competition. Both BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury and ACB CEO Naseeb Khan underlined the series’ significance, pointing out that it not only gives the players important playing time but also fosters closer cricket ties between the two countries.
It gives us great pleasure to host Bangladesh in this much awaited series. This journey demonstrates the depth of our collaboration and our shared dedication to providing top-notch cricket experiences, even at neutral locations. Fans can anticipate thrilling games and elite competitiveness,” ICC cited Naseeb as saying.
“We’re excited to play Afghanistan in what could be a thrilling and challenging white-ball series in the United Arab Emirates. In addition to providing exciting competition after the Asia Cup, this visit demonstrates the great bond and respect between our two cricket boards,” Nizamuddin remarked.
Afghanistan’s first T20I assignment of the year will be the forthcoming tri-series against Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh, meanwhile, enters the series in excellent form after defeating Pakistan and Sri Lanka in recent T20I series. They will also play a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands before to playing Afghanistan.
Afghanistan and Bangladesh have played each other in 19 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), with Bangladesh leading the series with 11 victories to Afghanistan’s eight. But in Twenty20 Internationals, Afghanistan has dominated, defeating the Tigers seven times in a row.
