After the Shreyas Iyer-led team lost the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final by six runs on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) lively co-owner Preity Zinta posted a heartfelt message praising the players, the support staff, and even the supporters.
PBKS received high appreciation from both fans and experts for their outstanding season-long play, even though they were unable to overcome the last obstacle. Zinta praised Shreyas on Friday, June 6, for his wise leadership, which was crucial in PBKS finishing first in the table for the first time since 2014. She also praised the team’s uncapped players for their efforts. Up to five uncapped players competed against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 final.
“The journey was amazing, even though it didn’t finish the way we had hoped! It was motivating, thrilling, and amusing. I admired our youthful team’s perseverance and tenacity throughout the competition. I admired our captain’s and Sarpanch’s leadership style and the dominance of Indian uncapped players in this IPL! This year was different. Despite losing important players to injuries and national duty, experiencing a tournament halt, moving home games to neighbouring states, and having to evacuate a stadium, we broke records! “After ten years, we adjusted, won the points table, and battled to the very end in a thrilling final,” Zinta posted on her official ‘X’ handle.
The well-known Bollywood actress also praised the players’ perseverance and tenacity in putting on some incredible performances in spite of numerous obstacles, and she recognised the ardent support of the PBKS supporters. She also assured the supporters that they would make a great return in the 2026 Indian Premier League and complete the tasks they were unable to do this year.
“Every player in the @PunjabKingsIPL has shown such character throughout the competition, and for that I am incredibly proud. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone of them, our support personnel, and the entire PBKS team for an amazing season. Above all, we would want to express our sincere gratitude to our supporters, the Sher Squad, who have been there for us no matter what. You are the reason we are who we are and how far we have come. I swear that we will return to complete the task because it is currently just halfway done. Till then, everyone, be careful and be safe. I’ll see you in the stadium next year. I adore you all. Ting! “Sadda Punjab | Sher Squad,” she continued.
