Shimron Hetmyer’s performance at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff during the second ODI of the three-match series ended with a tossed-up leg-break by Adil Rashid. The left-handed batter’s comeback in the maroon jersey proved to be forgettable as he was dismissed for a run-a-ball four on the last ball of the 37th over.
Outside the off-stump, the delivery was drifted for a distance. As it appeared to the unaided eye, the ball hit him plumb in front after straightening after pitching. The batter, however, was unconvinced and chose to contest the ruling through the DRS, but UltraEdge failed to display a spike and the ball-tracking turned three reds.
Shimron Hetmyer played down the wrong line, but it drifted away just enough to pull him forward.

After winning the toss, England chose to field first. Early in the match, Jewel Andrew, playing for the West Indies for the second time in ODIs, was dismissed for a five-ball duck. After building a 141-run partnership for the second wicket with Brandon King (59 off 67), Keacy Carty was dismissed for a brilliant 103 off 105, his third ODI century in ten days.
Shai Hope, the captain, was the last wicket to fall for the visitors after an impressive 78 from 66 balls. In his allotted 10-overs, Rashid gave up 63 runs. In the end, the crafty leg-spinner claimed four wickets, and Saqib Mahmood (3/37 in 9.4 overs) also showed promise. Will Jacks gave up 42 runs, proving to be a costly player.
