On September 21, in the second One-Day International (ODI) between Australia and England at Headingley, Leeds, experienced spinner Adil Rashid made history by taking his 200th wicket in the format.
Harry Brook, the captain of England, made the right decision to bowl first at the toss. The 28th over was the leg spinner’s heroic moment as he got rid of the threatening Glenn Maxwell.
When Adil Rashid bowled a full delivery on off stump, he misjudged Maxwell’s effort at a slog sweep, which fell to Jacob Bethell for an easy catch at deep mid-wicket.
With this wicket, Rashid not only put Australia on the back foot at 161/6 but also became the first player in ODI history to reach 200 wickets in a match.

The Yorkshire native became the third-fastest spinner in ODI history to attain this milestone in just 131 innings. He now shares this esteemed list with spin bowling greats Shane Warne (124 innings) and Saqlain Mushtaq (101 innings).
Australia gave the hosts a 271-run target.
The Australian opening pair, Travis Head and Matthew Short, put on 46 runs in the first over, but the visitor’s innings was beset by constant problems. With a strong sixty-nine off fifty-nine balls, captain Mitchell Marsh offered some security, but the wickets kept falling frequently.
With the bat, Alex Carey made a contribution as well, hitting 74 off 67 balls. His innings helped Australia reach a competitive goal of 271 with eight boundaries and three sixes.

Brydon Carse was the main culprit for the hosts with the ball, taking three wickets. Rashid, Matthew Potts, and Jacob Bethell each claimed two wickets, while Olly Stone claimed one wicket.
