Following the conclusion of IPL 2025, Rohit Sharma is allegedly scheduled to get surgery on his left hamstring. For the past five years, he has been dealing with a hamstring problem. However, he was unable to receive the required therapy because of his international obligations as the captain of the Indian team in all formats.
He is rumoured to address the matter following his time with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025, now that he has only one format to concentrate on after retiring from T20Is in 2024 and Tests earlier this month. He last underwent surgery in November 2016 to address the tendon in his right upper quadriceps. The best recovery took about three months.
“Now is the ideal moment for Rohit Sharma to have the surgery if he hopes to compete in the 2027 World Cup. A source close to the development told CricBlogger, “He has been delaying it for years due to leadership responsibilities, but now the schedule allows him to recover without rushing back.”
India’s 50-over schedule is less crowded, giving Rohit Sharma more time to properly recuperate.
In August, the Men in Blue will play a six-match limited-overs series against Bangladesh. The following confirmed ODI series is scheduled for October against Australia.
The India ODI captain may find that the post-IPL 2025 era is the best opportunity to address his problem permanently. Rohit has made it clear that he wants to captain the country in the 2027 World Cup, therefore it would be best for him to have surgery after the IPL to prepare for the big tournament.
