According to reports, Arun Jaitley Stadium will benefit financially as a result of Delhi Capitals and DDCA working together to renovate it before the ODI World Cup.

Arun Jaitley Stadium received a significant financial boost from Delhi Capitals (DC), an Indian Premier League (IPL) team, who worked to renovate and maintain the venue in time for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allocated 50 crore rupees for stadium renovations, the Delhi-based franchise has also stepped in to support the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).

In October and November of current year, the location is scheduled to host five ODI World Cup matches. The Delhi Capitals team plays their home games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Kotla Stadium, in both the IPL and the Women’s Premier League (WPL). According to rumors, the plans for this stadium improvement had previously been discussed by DDCA president Rohan Jaitely and DC co-owner Parth Jindal. The goal of the gathering was to come up with ways to make the match-watching experience better.

“There have been talks about installing two upscale hospitality boxes in the stadium. The goal is to start construction by the World Cup and conclude it by the next IPL. Numerous complaints about the atmosphere at the stadium during games have been made. According to a person familiar with the developments and quoted by the Times of India, “DDCA and Capitals have made that a priority.

In order to maintain facilities for their club teams, corporations in Europe manage football grounds. This action will be a slight step in that direction. Now that the Women’s Premier League will be contested in a home-and-away format, the Capitals will require the stadium for longer than just the IPL’s two-month duration,” he continued.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium will host five league games.

The 2023 ODI World Cup will feature five league games in Delhi, with the opening match scheduled for October 7. On October 11, India and Afghanistan will face off at this location in one of the major battles, and on October 14, England and Afghanistan will do battle there. On October 25 and November 6, the final two games will take place.

Although the stadium now has a seating capacity of about 35,000, it has previously come under fire for not providing washrooms with even the most basic level of sanitation for the India vs. Australia Test match in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023.

Notably, this is the first time an IPL club has been involved in a stadium upgrade project, particularly during the regular season.
