ACC invites applications for Asia Cup media rights allocation for 2024-31 period

The global broadcast, digital, and audio rights for tournaments including the Men’s, Women’s, Men’s Under-19, Men’s Emerging Teams, Women’s Under-19, and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cups will be put up for auction by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). For the Asia Cup alone, the ACC has set a base fee of USD 170 million.

Regarding the Men’s Asia Cup, that will be the auction’s most sought-after venue. The rights to this specific event begin in 2024 and go through 2031. The time frame will encompass four distinct editions across the same number of nations.

The Asia Cup, a T20 competition, is scheduled to take place in India in 2025.

The next one, in the format of an ODI, is scheduled for Bangladesh in 2027. Sri Lanka will host the event in ODI format in 2031, while Pakistan will host the T20 type competition in 2029.

The prospect of showing the match that will garner the most total viewers—the India vs. Pakistan match—will have broadcasters especially salivating. With the exception of the semifinal matchup, there are always two default games between these bitter rivals during the Asia Cup. The passion is evident during these matches.

All of the broadcasters have received an Invitation To Tender (ITT), and an online auction will choose the winner. This method of holding auctions has been the norm in the modern era since it was found to be the most transparent. On October 30, the parties must present their offers in Dubai.

It is noteworthy that three Women’s Asia Cup rights are up for auction in addition to the Men’s Asia Cup. While the women’s competition was contested in Sri Lanka, the men’s competition was staged in a hybrid format in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
