Abhishek Sharma opens up on meaning of ‘chit’ celebration

During an IPL 2025 match against the Punjab Kings earlier this year, Abhishek Sharma claimed that his distinctive “chit celebration” was caused by former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan. In the match that Sunrisers Hyderabad ultimately won by eight wickets, Abhishek struck a blazing 141 off 55. Abhishek revealed that Dhawan had asked him to visit his home so they could discuss the power of manifestation.

“I was informed by Shikhar Dhawan that manifestation is crucial; simply manifest that you have already completed the task. He asked me to come talk to him at his house. He forced me to begin journaling. Visualising “I will do it” is one thing; visualising “I am doing it” is another. “He forced me to write this,” Abhishek Sharma  said during an interview on Breakfast with Champions, adding, “I am the best player of India, I have won many matches for the team.”

Abhishek Sharma  scored 314 runs in seven games to finish as the edition’s top scorer.

Additionally, Abhishek Sharma  revealed that he used to write in his journal every matchday before the game started. He also admitted that until he reached his tonne, he couldn’t recall if he had put his chit in his pocket.

“I write in my journal every morning before every game. I therefore considered writing on a chit in place of it. ‘This one is for Orange Army’ is what I wrote. I carried it about in my pocket. I had forgotten I had it by the time I was fifty. I continued to play, and when I reached 100 and celebrated, I recalled it and removed the chit,” he continued.

Abhishek Sharma  was recently India’s standout player at the Asia Cup, scoring 439 runs in 13 innings for SRH at an incredible strike rate of 193.39. Because to his excellent batting, he was named Player of the Tournament.
