During the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs. Punjab Kings (PBKS) post-match ceremony, rising star opener Abhishek Sharma gave credit to Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav for their contributions. He said that their advice had given him the courage to take a huge hit.
For those who are unaware, Sharma was having trouble with his form while playing for SRH in the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Nevertheless, he complimented Yuvraj and Suryakumar for supporting him when the Southpaw scored 141(55), the best individual score for a batter in the history of the league while chasing.
“Special mention to Yuvraj Paaji as well because I have been talking to him as well, and I won’t deny Mr Suryakumar Yadav as well, he’s been in touch, and he was there for me, he was talking to me, he knew that this is going to happen very soon so thanks to him as well,” stated Abhishek.
Sharma views Yuvraj as a mentor and one of his heroes. The Southpaw watched Yuvraj play from an early age and developed into a player who could win games for his side. Sharma and Suryakumar have a unique bond because of their affiliation with the Indian squad. Abhishek has been a more important member of the Indian squad under Suryakumar.

Regarding his and Travis Head’s performances, Abhishek said, “It was a special day for both of us.”
Abhishek Sharma struck an incredible 141 (55), which featured 10 sixes and 14 fours, while hammering the PBKS bowlers for fun. It is the third-highest score in the history of the league and the highest score a batter has ever recorded while pursuing a total.
Sharma praised captain Pat Cummins in particular for his direct message and contribution to boosting everyone’s self-confidence. According to the star batter, conversing with Travis Head helped their team win the game.
“The team and its captain, Pat Cummins, deserve special recognition because of the team’s generally straightforward atmosphere. Even though we weren’t playing well, I knew deep down that I needed to do something like this to resume the winning streak. I think I spoke with Travis about it, and it was a special day for both of us,” Sharma said. It was another simple message for all the batters.
