Ranveer Allahbadia, an Indian YouTuber, recently asked former Indian cricket player and KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar to discuss his opinions on the subject of sex in cricket on a podcast. Ranveer is well known for inviting celebrities from a variety of fields and doing interesting interviews. Like the question he hurled at Nayar, Ranveer is well-known for his relaxed manner and direct approach. He frequently asks his guests direct questions.

That’s your question, is it not? Or is it that your query is, “Kitna hota hai (how often does it occur)”?” Abhishek Nayar answered.

The forty-year-old expounded about the varied viewpoints held by cricket players concerning the influence of their sexual engagements on their game. He brought attention to the differing opinions, saying that although some athletes believed that celibacy helped them become more focused and powerful, others felt that there was no connection between having sex and being productive on the pitch.
Abhishek Nayar emphasised that it is a matter of personal preference and that there is no universal rule.
Additionally, he acknowledged the constant strain players experience, both off the field—from constant media scrutiny and criticism from pundits and supporters—and on the pitch. He consequently observed that people frequently turn to sexual engagement as a way to decompress under such stressful conditions.

“Anyone who does that is normal. Everybody’s experience is unique. Every cricket player has this internal conflict and dilemma all the time. While some will enjoy it, others will not partake. While some cricketers do follow this belief and find that their power and focus increase, others do not and eventually come to the conclusion that nothing has changed. This is a highly personal matter, then. No general rule applies. The truth is that things function differently depending on the stage of life. Nobody is in a critical situation, but occasionally you just want to relax because of the pressure,” said Nayar.
