Bengal’s senior men’s side for the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season was recently declared by the Cricket Association of Bengal. The team will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, their reliable top-order batsman. He most recently scored fifty runs for Rest of India at the Irani Cup in 2025.
Abhimanyu Easwaran deputy has been appointed as Abishek Porel. The batting lineup will be anchored by seasoned players like Sudip Chatterjee and Anustup Majumdar. Additionally selected is Sudip Kumar Gharami, a promising young player who is anticipated to be essential.
After the previous domestic season ended, Abhimanyu Easwaran scored three half-centuries in five innings for India A.
Saurabh Kumar Singh, Vishal Bhati, and Rahul Prasad are the other young players in the starting lineup. Bengal’s bowling unit will be strengthened by the addition of Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep, two excellent fast bowlers who are anticipated to score early runs with the new red ball. The roster, however, does not include Mohammad Kaif, Shami’s brother and an all-round bowler.
The last time Shami played for India was in March 2025, when the Men in Blue won the Champions Trophy. He currently faces a difficult road to an international comeback due to injuries and bad form. Perhaps a well-crafted Ranji Trophy can make all the difference. Akash Deep, however, has so far participated in 10 Test matches for India.
Head coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla, a former Bengali all-rounder with expertise, will remain in his position. He will be helped by Shib Shankar Paul and Arup Bhattacharjee. The choice for the position of fielding coach is Charanjit Singh Matharu.
