Abhimanyu Easwaran knocks on BGT door with fourth straight first-class century

Abhimanyu Easwaran, the opener for Bengal, defeated Uttar Pradesh in the current Ranji Trophy 2024 to get his fourth straight first-class century. The 29-year-old, who recently scored back-to-back hundreds for India B in the Duleep Trophy, is in incredible form. He then got a century in the Irani Cup as well, and he now made a statement in the Ranji Trophy opening match.

He is in a good position to be chosen for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will start on November 22. Alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 86 runs while batting at number four for Maharashtra against Jammu and Kashmir, he is vying for the third opener position.

In the meantime, Abhimanyu Easwaran struggled with the bat in the first inning but recovered well in the second.

Bengal scored 311 runs in the first innings while batting first. Sudip Gharami scored 90 runs while batting at number three, and opener Sudip Chatterjee scored 116. In the meantime, pacer Yash Dayal had an amazing performance with the ball, taking four wickets. Intriguingly, he was left out of India’s selection for the forthcoming Tests in New Zealand, despite being a member of the team for the Test series against Bangladesh.

Mukesh, another player to consider, took four wickets for Bengal. Bengal established an 11-run lead in the first innings after restricting Uttar Pradesh to 292 runs thanks to a four-wicket haul from spinner Shahbaz Ahmed. Siddharth Yadav scored 73 while Aryan Juyal, the captain of Uttar Pradesh, scored 92.

The game’s second innings was dominated by Easwaran and Chatterjee. To keep Bengal in the lead, they took their time settling in and pieced together a partnership of more than 200 runs. Easwaran has put himself in a strong position ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series,

but he still has a lot of work to do and must continue to be reliable if he wants to be included in the India squad. Although he had previously been a member of the Indian team, he was not given the chance to make his debut.
