Aamer Jamal makes a debut with a record-breaking six wicket haul against Pakistan.

Both Australia and Pakistan had strong performances on the first day of their Test match. Beginning on December 14, both teams were front and center at Optus Stadium in Perth. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first, forcing Pakistan to rely heavily on its rookies to capture most of the wickets. Pat Cummins led Australia’s batters, who defeated Pakistan’s bowling unit. Aamer Jamal, making his debut, was one bowler who excelled and was essential to Pakistan’s success in stopping Australia’s batting onslaught.

Jamal had the sixth-best bowling performance of any Pakistani debutant in his first Test match, taking six wickets and giving up 111 runs in 20.2 overs. In addition, on his Test debut, he took five wickets, making him the 14th player from Pakistan to do so.

Before Jamal, players like Arif Butt, Yasir Arafat, Mohammad Nazir, Shahid Nazir, Mohammad Zahid, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, Tanvir Ahmed, Bilal Asif, Nauman Ali, and Abrar Ahmed had claimed five wickets in their first-ever Test match.

Aamer Jamal grabbed the wickets of David Warner, Travis Head, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon in an outstanding performance in his Test debut.

Day 2 ends with Pakistan trailing by 355 runs.

Regarding the match, Australia amassed an enormous 487 runs in the opening session. The top run scorer was David Warner, who scored 164 runs in 211 deliveries. Mitchell Marsh followed with 90 runs in 107 deliveries.

Pakistan performed admirably with the bat during the remainder of the day after coming out to bat. Pakistan finished the match’s second day with 132 runs scored despite losing two wickets.

By the end of the day, Imam-ul-Haq and Khurram Shahzad were at the crease with 38* and 7* runs, respectively. After scoring 42 runs in 121 deliveries, opener Abdullah Shafique was removed from the game, and captain Shan Masood added 30 more runs. With Day 3 drawing near, the team will be anxious to bat well and cut down on the lead.
