Aamer Jamal‘s six-week county cricket journey came to an early end due to injury, as his fitness issues restricted him to just three matches across forms.
Jamal became available in April when he was left out of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup team, and he signed on with Warwickshire the same day he arrived in the UK to take against Nottinghamshire.
However, in his opening two County Championship games, he only claimed one wicket, and head coach Mark Robinson acknowledged that he was “struggling for rhythm” and “not reaching the sort of pace we’d like him to”. Following his subsequent back injury, Jamal has not participated in the Championship.
His contract included the Blast as well, however because of injuries, he has only been able to play in one match, where he cost 25 runs in one wicketless over before being out for a first-ball duck.
“Aamir has worked incredibly hard with our medical and strength and conditioning team, but unfortunately, we’ve run out of time to get him back on the pitch and bowling at full pace,” stated Warwickshire’s director of cricket, Gavin Larsen. I’m sure he’s sad that he was unable to show the Bears supporters what he is capable of.”
Hasan Ali, Jamal’s countryman, has also had an elbow issue while at Warwickshire and hasn’t played for them in the Blast since June 14. He is expected to remain at the club through July’s end.

This season, Warwickshire has been severely lacking in seam-bowling options due to extended periods of injuries missed by Chris Rushworth, Liam Norwell, and Craig Miles. Despite their lack of wins, their spin-heavy team has flourished in the Blast, winning the North Group after ten games. However, they are now ranked eighth in Division One of the Championship.
With the addition of Middlesex-born Ethan Bamber, a former England Under-19 seamer, revealed on Monday, they have strengthened their roster for the upcoming summer. In a news statement, Larsen stated, “Ethan was highly courted around the game, and we’re thrilled he’s chosen to call Edgbaston home for the future.”
Comparable to Larsen at Middlesex, Alan Coleman expressed his “natural disappointment” at Bamber’s decision to quit after being presented with an offer of a long-term contract extension. “Ethan is an ambitious young man who wants to challenge himself in a new environment and has a passion to play for England,” Coleman stated.
