Aakash Chopra forecasts a change in India XI for Kanpur Test: “A fast bowler out, Kuldeep Yadav in”

The first Test of the series on a relatively seamer-friendly wicket didn't involve Kuldeep Yadav.

Aakash Chopra forecasts a change in India XI for Kanpur Test: "A fast bowler out, Kuldeep Yadav in"

Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer for India, discussed the only method for preparing a field with black dirt and examined the circumstances under which Kuldeep may be included in the starting eleven.

Despite being chosen for the 16-man squad for the first Test match against Bangladesh, Kuldeep Yadav, the star wristspinner for the Indian team, was unable to join the squad. This was a decision driven by the urge to play three pacers on a surface that initially appeared to benefit seamers more, rather than anything to do with his being out of form or any other relevant reason.

On a pitch made of black soil, there is just one thing you can do: plant grass and leave it damp. After that, for the first one to one and a half days, the ball moves fairly. They may need to use three quick bowlers if they create the kind of pitch that they did in Chennai. In a video that was uploaded to his YouTube account, Chopra said, “Kuldeep Yadav has to play if it’s a typical Kanpur surface—low, slow, and slightly spin-friendly.”

Chopra added that one of two players, Akash Deep or Japrit Bumrah, might leave the game to include Kuldeep in the lineup.

“Kuldeep Yadav could come in and a fast bowler out in a straightforward trade. Deepak out and Kuldeep in if workload management is absent. Should Bumrah need to take a break, Akash Deep and Kuldeep could both play. I don’t think there is room for a change in the team other than that,” Aakash said.

The former opener for India also foresaw one modification that he believed was necessary: Taijul Islam, a left-arm spinner, would join the team. In addition to praising Taijul, Chopra mentioned a few other spinners who have previously troubled the Indian batting order.

“First off, it’s unknown when Shakib Al Hasan will be available. Whether or whether he is playing is still up for debate. He’s recovering from an injury. He will play if he is available; if not, he won’t. I watch Taijul Islam in action. He has also caused us a great deal of grief.

He is a left-arm spinner. He bowls lengthy, slow strokes. In a day, he bowls thirty overs. Even Ajaz Patel, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Steve O’Keefe caused us problems as left-arm spinners. We are troubled by all left-arm spinners. Although Taijul Islam’s recent form is not excellent at all, you will need to exercise a little caution when dealing with him, Chopra continued.

Taijul has played six Test matches against India; in those matches, he has averaged 231.4 overs, given up 762 runs, and claimed 12 wickets.

His real performance has been far greater than the statistics indicate, and Bangladesh should unleash a spinner of his kind against India if they are to have any chance of challenging the hosts.
