IPL 2025: Aakash Chopra predicts SRH's expected retentions

With the 18th Indian Premier League mega-auction quickly approaching, there is much speculation over which players would be kept by different teams. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has contributed to the mix of cricket pundits who have offered their own theories over the matter.

According to Aakash Chopra, the Sunrisers Hyderabad would proceed with keeping their starting duo, including Klaasen and the captain.

Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Pat Cummins will all remain with SRH. These four need to be kept around since you can’t let them go. Their squad is really damaging. In response to a comment on his YouTube channel, Chopra wrote, “Both left-handed openers come and hit sixes, and then Heinrich Klaasen comes and destroys.”

Continuing the conversation, he expressed his belief that Markram might be a case study for SRH and that he might not be kept, predicting that experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar would have a similar outcome.

“Aiden Markram: What number of overseas will you be able to retain? I’m not sure what regulation regarding the amount of foreign workers that can be kept will be implemented. They will make a concerted effort to hold onto these three or four names. Since it’s a three-year game, I don’t think you’ll keep Bhuvi. Chopra said, “I think this time around the auction and retention are going to be really interesting.”

Shall release Marsh and Warner from DC: Aakash Chopra

The former Delhi State player offered input in the same video regarding the roster of players that the Delhi Capitals will ultimately decide to keep.

“That’s Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Khaleel Ahmed, and possibly Kuldeep Yadav.” Thus, depending on the number of people, Axar, Kuldeep, Rishabh, and Jake Fraser-McGurk, said Chopra.

Additionally, he believed that David Warner and Mitch Marsh, two Australians, ought to be freed.

Both Mukesh (Kumar) and Khaleel are present. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh can both depart. Why should I give it any thought? That’s how I feel,” Chopra said.

Pant, who had been out of the game for 15 months, returned to lead DC in runs scored in the IPL 2024, with 446 runs in 13 innings at a stike rate of 155.40. The Indian duo of Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar finished the same season with 17 wickets between them, despite the former having played four less games than the left-arm bowler.
