The Chennai Super Kings may not pursue Cameron Green at the IPL 2026 auction, according to former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra. There are just four international spots available for the five-time champions, and their available purse is INR 43.4 crore.
According to Aakash Chopra, CSK has never been a team that has spent a lot of money on a player. According to him, this is the reason CSK might not actively pursue Green.
Chennai seldom ever spends INR 25–30 crore on a person. It’s not how they do things. They may pursue Cameron Green for a while before claiming they don’t need him, or occasionally you may purposefully raise someone’s price while not caring if you don’t end up with him.
In a video posted to his YouTube account, Aakash Chopra said, “CSK might not be all that interested in Green.”
The well-known analyst pointed out that CSK’s comparatively inexperienced middle order might be a justification for them to pursue a batter who meets the criteria, whether from within or outside the country.
They must, however, express interest in a middle-order hitter. The top six appear to be doing well, but not all of them are. There seems to be a little less experience. Play foreign players if you get the chance,” he continued.
The auction is due for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, and Green, who has set his base price of INR 2 crore, is expected to be a hot property. The star Australian all-rounder is expected to be pursued by numerous teams.
Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Vansh Bedi, C Andre Siddharth, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Shaik Rasheed, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Matheesha Pathirana, and Ravichandran Ashwin have all been released by CSK (prior to auction). Additionally, they exchanged Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja for Sanju Samson with the Rajasthan Royals.
For CSK, the 2025 season will never be forgotten. For the first time in their history, the Men in Yellow finished at the bottom of the points standings. They are eager to perform better in the 2026 Indian Premier League and will try to hone their team at the auction.
