Aakash Chopra hails India's batsman after his stunning century in the second One-Day International against Australia: "Shreyas Iyer was in total control."

After Shreyas Iyer‘s outstanding performance in the second ODI match against Australia at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on September 24, former India opener Aakash Chopra lavished admiration on him. The middle-order batter made a remarkable comeback, scoring 105 runs off of 90 pitches. India established a commanding 2-0 lead in the ODI series as a consequence of employing the Duckworth Louis Stern (DLS) system to win the game by 99 runs.

Despite being under pressure, Shreyas appeared to be in control during the game, according to Chopra. Due to his game-winning strike, he was also named Player of the Match. He also praised him for hitting deft shots over the cover area against the Australian bowlers and for his stunning drives.

He experienced pressure. However, the squad felt certain that Shreyas was our major player and that we would continue to use him. He was terrific in the manner he played those drives after hitting a shot over covers at the beginning. On his YouTube channel, Chopra claimed that he had complete control.

The 46-year-old continued by claiming that Shreyas batted excellently and didn’t allow the opposition any opportunities to get him out. Notably, Shreyas and opener Shubman Gill, who also got a century, put together a 200-run stand.

“It wasn’t like there were any edges or dropped catches. Nothing of the type existed. He was a great hitter. For a brief period at the beginning, it appeared that Shreyas Iyer—who was recovering from injury—was Shubman Gill, and that Shubman Gill was Shreyas Iyer.

I won’t be calling him. Despite Sixer Suryakumar Yadav, Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra gave Suryakumar Yadav more accolades for his batting in the second ODI. He referred to the batsman as “Sixer Kumar Yadav” and supported the BCCI’s selection of him for the eagerly anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup, which starts on October 5. The 33-year-old scored 72 runs off 37 balls, including six maximums and as many boundaries.

I’m going to refer to him as Sixer Kumar Yadav instead of Suryakumar Yadav. He makes a ton of sixes. Go green, was the general consensus. He advised us to turn green as we approached the boundary. It was a remarkable inning. He is a complete player who has proven the management was right to support him for the World Cup. This is admirable,” Chopra said in his conclusion.
