Aakash Chopra blames management of constantly changing the batting order, saying that “No. 4 has become a revolving door.”

"Why do you need to push someone like KL Rahul down to No. 6-7?" responded Chopra.

Aakash Chopra blames management of constantly changing the batting order, saying that "No. 4 has become a revolving door."

With Gautam Gambhir as their new head coach, India travelled Sri Lanka for a white-ball series. In the Twenty20 International series, the Indians defeated the hosts 3-0. With one tied game, the Lankan Lions won the series 2-0, proving how catastrophic the 50-over assignment was. Particularly in the batting order, as former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has shown, Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma have been the targets of their peculiar style.

Players who rolled over their arms during the Twenty20 Internationals included Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, and Suryakumar Yadav, who gave the team vital breakthroughs. Supporters praised Gambhir for developing all-round players when Suryakumar and Rinku held nine runs off of twelve balls. However, Chopra has been critical of the management following the series defeat due to India’s unreliable number four when batting in ODIs.

Since 2023, no middle order player has amassed as many runs as him, so it’s intriguing to consider whether they have intentions for him,” Aakash Chopra posted on his YouTube account.

Since we have a different No. 4 in every game, No. 4 has turned into a rotating door. Why is it necessary to demote someone to positions 6-7 like KL Rahul? What stops you from leading the charge? After KL Rahul was used in two games, India benched him.

India appears to have begun discussing solutions for the number four puzzle.

Rahul batted mostly at number five during the 2023 World Cup, and the hitter hasn’t been with the club since the big game. Washington Sundar was moved up to number four after scoring five runs in the opening One-Day International, and he was back for the Sri Lanka series.

In the second One-Day International, India lost despite Shivam Dube recording a duck while batting at a critical position. Rishabh Pant secured the berth and was removed for just six runs in the third One-Day International as India lost.
