A three-person committee is formed by BCB to examine ODI World Cup performance.

Bangladesh, one of the strongest teams in ODI cricket at home, failed to perform to its fullest capacity in the just-finished Cricket World Cup 2023. A better result was anticipated because the circumstances in India were essentially the same as those in Bangladesh. The Shakib Al Hasan-led team’s inconsistent play angered the home crowd as they finished eighth in the points standings. At one point, they were in the bottom half of the standings and in danger of not making it to the Champions Trophy 2025. To guarantee their place in the tournament, the Bengal Tigers did, however, prevail over Sri Lanka in their penultimate match of the major event.

The team had a good mix of youth and experience, but they lacked character because the captain wasn’t his typical self for most of the games, and two veteran players, Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim, had trouble throughout the season. Mahbubul Anam, Akram Khan, and director Enayet Hossain Siraj comprise the three-person committee that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed to evaluate the team’s performance in the competition. The objective is to pinpoint the errors and initiate the process of addressing them prior to the forthcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled for June 2024.

“The committee’s goal is to examine the elements that led to the team’s poor performance in the competition and it will then submit its conclusions to the board,” BCB stated in a statement on Wednesday.

Significantly, Bangladesh ran a campaign to forget, and as a result, future setup adjustments may be necessary. Having defeated Afghanistan in their opening game, they went on to lose six straight, eliminating them from contention and making the Shakib Al Hasan-led squad the first to exit the competition. The supporters were unimpressed once more as they lost to Australia by eight wickets to end their campaign.
