After more than 15 years, Indian off-spinner R Ashwin has formally declared his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In a social media statement on Wednesday, Ashwin made his decision public and said he is excited for what lies ahead.
“It was a special day, so it was a wonderful start. My time as an IPL cricket player ends today, but my time as a player exploring the game in different leagues begins today. As they say, every ending has a new beginning. I want to thank the @IPL and the @BCCI for all they have given me up to this point, as well as all of the franchisees for the amazing memories and connections we have had over the years. He commented on X, “I’m looking forward to enjoying and maximising what lies ahead of me.”
