Sir Geoffrey Boycott, a former cricketer for England, recently come forth to criticise England batsman Ben Duckett for his subpar performances during the summer Test season. Duckett has appeared in 26 Test matches thus far in his career. He has amassed 1828 runs at an average of 39.73, along with three centuries.
Sir Geoffrey Boycott, 83, is not impressed by the numbers; Duckett’s playstyle is compared to that of former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum, and he even claims to try to play like a left-handed Vivian Richards.
“The McCullum style is perfectly embodied by Ben Duckett. He hits a ball with a rat-a-tat-tat sound when he scores runs. Slogs, pulls, and sweeps are mixed in with some amazing shots. On other occasions, he uses ridiculous moves to get away with things you can’t even believe he tried. He tries to play with the same dismissal technique as left-handed Viv Richards, hitting bowlers all over the pitch. Ben isn’t remarkable; Viv was,” Boycott was cited as saying.
It is noteworthy that Ben Duckett did not achieve any hundreds during the series against Sri Lanka; nevertheless, he did reach the century in the first innings of the third Test match against Sri Lanka, scoring 86 runs in 79 deliveries.
