‘An interesting and intriguing contest’ -Shubman Gill muses on India's next series with Bangladesh

In preparation for a two-game Test series against Bangladesh, Team India is getting set. The series is scheduled to start on September 19 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Not too long ago, star batsman Shubman Gill came forward and gave his team a clear message.

The 25-year-old said that India is aware of Bangladesh’s recent performances and would not be underestimating them in any manner. It is important to remember that Bangladesh recently shocked Pakistan by winning two Test matches in their own country.

Speaking on the same topic, Shubman Gill emphasised the significance of Bangladesh’s importance.

Bangladesh made history by defeating Pakistan in their own territory, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto. In the first Test, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by ten wickets, and in the second, they triumphed by six wickets.

“I don’t think you can undervalue any international team; Bangladesh has played some excellent cricket in the past few months, particularly in Pakistan. It would be remiss to overlook their middle-order hitters’ ability to absorb pressure and their fast bowlers. Thus, Gill told JioCinema, “I think it will be an interesting and intriguing contest.”

As Bangladesh aims to upset the top-ranked team, India is focused on the WTC final.

The Indian team will carry their practice and knowledge from the Bangladesh series to their next home season, which will feature another important series against New Zealand. The series against Bangladesh could prove to be essential for the team.

India is presently leading the World Test Championship rankings after playing nine Tests. They have won six, lost two, and drawn one. India’s qualification for the WTC final is all but assured with 74 points.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, is ranked fourth in the WTC. Bangladesh has won three of the six Test matches it has played, and lost the other three. Bangladesh will be hoping for another upset against India after securing 33 points.
