'I was left embarrassed' - Wasim Akram lashes out at Pakistan for missing important phases in Bangladesh series

Pakistan has been performing terribly in all formats. The team was eliminated in the group stages of both the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup. With the red-ball series against Bangladesh, they attempted to regain their historic undefeated record in Test matches against them. To their dismay, however, the visitors returned home having made history by winning the series 2-0.

Deep scrutiny and condemnation from all quarters followed the loss. The team had moments of strong play, but in crucial moments of the match, they were unable to take advantage of Bangladesh’s weaknesses.

The most recent addition to the bubble, former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram, emphasised the same point, citing the example of Bangladesh.

“I mean, we’ve all been really enthusiastic about the home season, so to speak, and to begin with, I’m really unhappy. We had to wait a full year for this chance. The narrative has been quite similar to that of Australia. After the series, Shan Masood remarked, “We haven’t learnt our lessons.”

who won the Test by six wickets after being reduced to 26 for 6 in the first innings. “As a lover of the game and a former player and captain, I was ashamed at how they lost from strong positions. I really don’t understand it,” Akram remarked, as reported by The Indian Express.

Furthermore, since 2021, Pakistan has lost every Test match. In between, they were able to draw the series with New Zealand, but England easily defeated them at home. With a furious look at the performance, Akram declared that it was “a huge setback.”

“Our cricket is at a turning point, and this is a major setback. We are consistently losing at home, which speaks volumes about the calibre of our cricket, Akram continued.
